Dear Yuletide Author
Oct. 13th, 2013 05:41 pmHello, dear author! First and foremost let me say thank you for writing a story for me. I know everyone says it, but I really will appreciate just about any fic you write in any of these fandoms. Optional details are optional, and if not having any parameters would help you feel more relaxed about writing a fic, pretend this entry doesn't exist. Or cherry-pick the bits that inspire you and ignore the rest.
General dislikes: Mpreg, omegaverse, completely depressing endings. I'm not squicked by much (but please don't take that as a challenge to try, just as carte blanche to include what you want to write the fic you like. :D)
General likes: AUs that are spun off of one change in canon that sends things off in a different direction, bros being bros, bros being more than bros, family dynamics (good or bad, and in biological or found families), protectiveness, humor, banter, supernatural/super-powered beings or settings, awkward first time sex that's more about characters bonding/showing affection/whatever than the sexiness of it, awkward sex that gets better with practice, adventures/misadventures, hurt/comfort, happy or hopeful endings
Obviously my fandoms and prompts this year are more slanted toward slash pairings or gen, but I enjoy slash, femslash, het, and gen equally, so do with that what you will.

This was not a movie I went into expecting to want fic. But then this happened:
Jay: We could build a life here together, Craig. I'd be really good to you.
And suddenly I shipped it and wanted all the fic about them trying to make it on their own in that house they were ransacking. Or maybe they set out to find a different place to live? I'd love it if they didn't just abandon their friends, though. Maybe they could have parted amicably? Or maybe they just stayed friendly neighbors in the midst of an apocalypse. Also, I didn't add in any other characters, but if you want to include anyone else, feel free!
If shipping them isn't your thing, I'd love just some buddy-type fic where they're trying to survive, or maybe just a glimpse at a conversation they may have had in a deleted scene in the movie, or them hanging out in Heaven, anything goes!
Honestly, anything that focuses on Jay and Craig is going to make my life. Bros hanging out, romantic partners, us-against-the-world adventurers, awkward, tense, emotionally-charged first time sex because the world is ending, whatever. I really did enjoy the rest of the cast, too, and the way they all interacted, so if we matched because you chose 'any' or you feel like throwing the rest of them in there, I'd be all for it!
Obviously some of the scenarios I mentioned might require going AU (them not all dying in the end) but if you'd prefer to keep the ending intact, you can totally focus on their time in Heaven. Who else do they meet there? What other kinds of wishes do they make?

What is going on at this party? Did they all get together to figure out what the fox says? Or did it just come up in conversation while they were talking about the other animal noises? Are any of the guests seeing each other? Is it just a random assortment of people? I included four nominated characters, but if you'd prefer to just focus on one or two, or if you want to include all the characters in the video, that's okay!
Whatever you can come up with for this is something I'll love. Go serious, go silly, go porny, go cracky, it's all fine by me!
This is the one fandom where I feel like you can take it in any single direction and it would be awesome. It's such a bizarre video that you could go even weirder and throw in some shapeshifters or aliens or time traveling or parallel universes and it would totally fit in, but it's also so bizarre that making a serious story out of it (murder mystery, family drama, romantic entanglements) would temper the weirdness.
Like I said, not much squicks me, and I think that would especially hold true in this fandom. Feel like throwing in some Vegard/Bård? Furries? Orgies? Have at it.

I would love to see some post-movie fic about how these two deal with what happened. If they deal with it by boning, all the better! Feel free to stick to canon or go a little AU with this - what if Jimmy still has some werewolf traits? Or what if he's still a werewolf? What if he and Bo become werewolf hunters? What if now that they know about werewolves, they discover more supernatural beings?
I didn't include Ellie in my characters, but I certainly wouldn't mind if you wanted to include her in any fic you write!
Basically, anything dealing with the aftermath of the movie is awesome. Make it as dark or as light as you want, I'd be equally happy with both. I think the movie does a great job of mixing the two, dark themes and humor, so fic with that same tone would be fantastic, but definitely not required.
Like I said in the request, AUs would be great (and crossovers, too, if that's something you're into - whatever strikes your fancy, but especially anything to do with werewolves, because if it involves werewolves, I've probably seen or read it) but I'm not a huge fan of coffee shop/bakery/dentistry/florist AUs. However, if you have a mundane AU for this fandom in mind, I'm sure I'd enjoy it!

I love the worldbuilding in this movie, and I adore the relationship between Nick and Cassie. I see it as more of a brother/sister kind of relationship, but if you ship them and would prefer to write them as a romantic pairing, go ahead! I'd prefer that Cassie is over eighteen if they're together, though.
Pretty much any kind of fic set in this universe is going to make me happy. I love adventures/misadventures, but I also love character-driven fics or introspection. If you feel like throwing any other characters from the movie in, I wouldn't object, but I wasn't a big fan of Kira so I would prefer that she not be featured too heavily.
This is a movie that I would love fic equally from pre-movie, post-movie, or during the movie. I do love Nick and Cassie's found family dynamic, and would love to see something exploring that more, but honestly, I'll be happy with anything. Something from Cassie's point of view while she's hanging out with Nick? Or the missing scenes where she's traveling to find him? How difficult was that for someone her age, traveling on her own?
Or something from Nick's point of view, somewhere between the time his father was killed and the time he meets Cassie. Or after he meets Cassie, how does he feel about his new role as a big brother type?
Something after the movie would be great, too, maybe them hunkering down somewhere for a while to let the dust settle, or them meeting up with other people like them, anything! Or even just pure worldbuilding with Cassie and Nick at the edges of the fic.
To reiterate, please don't take anything in this letter as a requirement. I would much rather read something you want to write and enjoyed writing than something you felt obligated to write. Thank you again for being my writer, and I can't wait to see what you come up with!
